Well we colored eggs on Thursday that week and did our egg hunt and trinkets on Saturday. We decided to save Sunday and make it about Jesus and his death and resurrection. This year the kids did an egg hunt in the house, to make it a little easier for the little boys, and filled their baskets with goodies. We got each of them a little present and a few presents to share. Whatever we can do to encourage sharing even though someone always adopts that toy for themselves!
We read a story about Jesus, which surprisingly the kids seemed to love. They got 3 books and that book was the hit. Brody could almost quote the book after the third time Justin read it.
Sunday we attended church and talked about Jesus Death and what it meant for us. We made a cake in the shape of a cross, a red one to symbolize his Blood shed for us. The kids painted stained glass crosses and hung them on the sliding glass door. We then spent Sunday evening at my parents house for Easter Dinner!
I hope in the future to incorporate into our Easter day the boys telling us the story of Jesus death and resurrection and even attending the church play put on by a church near by. It is incredible including animals and music.
It was a great day and mostly so incredibly thankful for my Lord Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. It was not just in his death that we have been saved but in the resurrection and defeat of Sin. It was not enough for Him just to live but to die and live again. Praise God.
