We went camping at Stoneman Lake the week after Memorial Day. It was beautiful up there in "our" camping spot! The meadow was available and we were able to get right in there on Thursday to secure a spot for our trip. Randy and the Vollmer's were able to also come up on Thursday night, which was so nice. The nights were cold, very cold. I ended up with Brynn in my sleeping bag the second half of the night. We went to town on Friday to buy a tent heater too. The kids were layerd up and snug in their clothes during the nights and in shorts during the days. Crazy weather. It rained some on Saturday. Which was a bummer for the Farr's who came up that morning. Everything got soaking wet for them so they went home that night. The Morton's and the Wilkinsons also joined us on Friday. It was a great group of friends we camped with. Everyone split meals to make it easier on each family. The food was great. I don't eat so good at home!
Justin tried to do Omeletes boiled in a bag. There were some hiccups at the beginning but all in all, it was very tasty. Such a simple idea with great results. We decided after this trip that we weren't doing paper and disposable campwear any more. We went to Walmart and bought plastic plates, cups, and re-useable silverwaire. We'd like to be eco-friendly with our camping.
We had a great time. The kids had a blast playing with the other kids. Sometimes it felt like we only saw them when they were hungry, thirsty or tired. They were on some great adventures.
