Within the seminar was A Knight's Profile made up of K.N.I.G.H.T.: (the father is the Knight in this case)
K-King to Serve-A knight has a clear understanding of who the commander in his life is. A knight knows he is a man under authority. His life is not his own, it belongs to the God he serves and loves with his whole heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:29-31).
N-Never Along-A knight acknowledges and seeks the company of other knights. He knows they are part of a fellowship that builds itself up because of what each participant provides (Ephesians 4:16).
I-Integrity to Preserve-A knight's words and life are under scrutiby. His son notices! A knights integrity brings honor and glory to the King. It also shapes his son's life (Proverbs 20:7).
G-Godly Quest to Carry Out-Not only does the knight serve a King, but the kin has commissioned the knight for particular service. Among the knight's duties is to make the necessary arrangements for his son(s) to be raised as a knight (Prov. 22:6).
H-Heart to Guard- The road may be long and the quest strenuous, but the knight knows that his heart is the doorway to his soul (Proverbs 4:23). It needs to be continurously directed towards the King's will, always willing to set aside personal desires in service of the King's desires.
T-Training to Pursue-A knight knows that life isn't about trying, it's about training (I Timothy 3:15). A knight's son learns that his father, no matter how long he has been a knight, still considers every day a new training experience, seeking to make use of both the failures and successes of the previous days.
Isn't that an awesome calling for Father's and then to train their sons? It is inspiring.
Justin was especially moved by the discussion concerning Glory. GLORY is a word that, in some instances, means "weight"--referring to a substance that brings with it strength, stature, and stability. Without a father's direction and "weight", sons become weightless and are blown around by every seductive and deceptive wind society has to offer.
Strategic dads have a well thought out plan and vision. They understand the true sense of masculinity and know how to deposit it in their son's life. INTENTION is the key with this study. Which I LOVE!!!
Another great little learning tool was concerning allowing God's sword to do its work in his life, so that he in turn will be able to use it effectively throughout all of life.
S-sins he must confess. (1 John 1:8-10)
W-wisdom he can apply. (James 1:2-27)
O-offenses he must forgive. (Luke 17:1-4)
R-requirements to obey. (John 13:1-17, 34-35)
D-deceptions to avoid. (Psalm 1:1-6; 19:9-16)
There are so many good things with this study so I'll share one more:
There are FOUR key exercises (Workout Program) a dad needs to work out with his Son:
1. A son needs to SEE certain things in his dad. (Character, Heart, Loving Mom)
2. A son needs to HEAR certain things from his dad. (Love you, Proud of you, Good at)
3. A son needs to RECEIVE certain things from his dad. (Affirming Encouragement, Manhood Instruction, Jesus in His Life)
4. A son needs to EXPERIENCE certain things with his dad. (One on One Time, Manhood Ceremonies, Becoming a Man)
Every Son longs to hear 3 powerful and universal affirmations from his dad:
1. Son, I love you.
2. Son, I'm proud of you.
3. Son, you're good at ____________. (what God designed him to be good at)

Every son needs to RECEIVE instruction about manhood. Most sons are going out into life guessing at manhood, especially these days. And most sons guess poorly! Without manhood clarity and insturction, a dad leaves a void in his son tha tin time will be filled with anger, frustration, and addictions.
"Father's do not provoke your children' to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." Eph. 6:4
How does a boy become a man?
It happens when a father has a clear understanding of manhood he can define, articulate, and live out in front of his son.
It happens when a father with the help of other men, formally initiates his son into manhood by calling him to embrace this same definitions of manhood for his own life.
"If a dad doesn't give his son a clear definition of manhood, the world will!" (Dennis Rainey)
The study guies you further through the Workout Program by dividing up the things they need by age.
Specifically it discusses Manhood Ceremonies that play a vital role for father's and sons.
Starting at Age 13-Introduction to Manhood
Age 16-Growth in manhood
Age 18- Launching toward manhood
Age 21-Induction into manhood (becoming a man)
In the case for my little guys, dad time is always important but starting at Age 6 Instruction on Manhood can begin as well as Directly speaking the Gospel to them starts to become tangible. They are finally mature enough to understand.
Finally the clear, compelling definition of manhood is:
A Real Man
1. Rejects Passivity-men are designed for action
2. Accepts responsibility
3. Leads courageously-driven by truth, not feelings
4. Expects the greater reward -God's reward
After all this Justin took Cole up to Mormon Lake for the Father and Son's campout to begin the process of the Workout Program with him. They each got to make public commitments concerning their relationship with one another and talk about what Justin was going to do in order to build up in Cole a TRUE KNIGHT! Of course Cole thought that was so cool! They were even taught the KNIGHTS CODE which all my boys can now recite flawlessly:

I didn't really get any pictures of them from the campout. I think someone else has them on their camera. I'll have to hunt them down! But for now here is the Family Crest we made after they finished their series/seminar. It's intention is to give the kids and us a sense of stability, tradition, and core values.
I think it turned out pretty cool!
