Grandma Hone's Funeral

Justin's grandmother, Sharen Hone, passed on March 15th, 2011.  She was 68 years old and had been plagued with Alzheimer's for about 4 years.  Very young. She had five children, including Justin's mom (the oldest and the only daughter).  We were fortunate enough to make it out for the funeral that following Monday in Sacramento.  


Zach and Lisa were kind enough to take our boys for us on Sunday morning and keep them until Monday afternoon when they dropped them at my parent's house. I flew to Sacramento with the littlest two, Brynn and Westin, to meet with Justin who had been in Sacramento for business since that previous Thursday.  


The kids did awesome on the flight. I'm so thankful.  Westin slept the whole time and Brynn was surprisingly quiet and entertained by simple things.  I ended up sitting next to a Sacramento Police Lieutenant who was very kind and gracious about me having the kids.  The flight was chalk full so he didn't have much choice.


We got to eat dinner with Doug and Stacey that night at Grandma Martin's house and then headed over to Grandpa Hone's after the viewing to visit with family.  Justin practiced singing a song with the Hone men, which sounded lovely, and we got to see lots of family we don't see often.  It was nice.


We stayed that night at Bobby and Alisa's house and spent the morning with them before the funeral.  The funeral was very nicely put together. Her children had so many wonderful things to say about their mother. It was very emotional listening to them express their love for her and her impact on their lives.  Many tears.


We flew home that evening along with Josh and arrived late.  It was a quick trip but very worth it and I'm so glad we got to be there in support of Grandpa Hone during this time.  Our prayers are with him and her children as they adjust to her passing.
