Potty Training

Oh the joys of potty training. We started last week with introducing the potty, removing their diapers when they wake up in the morning and putting pull-ups in their place. Going in the potty is going well during the day. Brody was the first to start initiating going in the potty by himself. Trace wasn't far behind, although it did come after a few small accidents. That certainly sped up his interest in the using the potty. #2 is always harder b/c they don't want to do it any where but in the diaper...so I'm more patient with that, so long as they begin using the potty for Pee. They are pretty good about using the potty now. The next hurdle is using the potty in public and going #2 on the potty. I think they will both come fairly quickly in the next few weeks. Summer is always an awesome time to potty train, it helps that they are usually pants free due to swimming outside! Plus does anyone know a Martin that doesn't want to be naked? My boys are no exception!
We use the obedience method of potty training. This means that once they have learned and understood that they are to go Pee in the Potty they are disciplined for disobedience. We leave some room for accidents and always try to be prompting them to use the potty b/c boys are forgetful. But beyond that, once they understand, it is not okay for them to continue to go in their pants. Of course the discipline is done in love (in case their was any question of that!).
I'm sure the pics of them going potty will catch your eye b/c they have decided that sitting down on the little potty is only an occasional thing, since Daddy and Cole do it standing up!
