He's Here!!

Little Westin James Martin made his highly anticipated arrival on November 17, 2010 at 8:17am weighing in at 6lbs 10.7oz and 20.5in long.  He's beautiful, perfect, and already such a joy.  We were released from the hospital within 15 hours, thankfully, and able to go home to our other 4 children who were anxiously awaiting Westin's arrival as well. 

Cole was able to go with us to hospital to see Westin born. It was awesome to have him there. He did such a good job waiting patiently, at one point even taking a nap with daddy while we waited for things to progress.  

My mom, dad, and Justin's mom Stacey were all in attendance as well.  The support made things very special.  

After about 3 hours of medium labor and 3 hours of HARD labor I felt the urge to push.  The midwife went to the sink to wash her hands and I told Justin to come and get the baby because he was coming out in one push.  Justin, who was already standing by, but off to my right, got to the bed just in time to catch Westin and place him on my chest.  No need for a midwife after all, daddy did the dirty work! It was awesome.  The cord was wrapped once, which we quickly removed, and he cried right away.  Slobbery wet wonderful little baby boy!

Cole helped daddy cut the cord and got a chance to look at the placenta while the midwife explained to him what it was all about.  His face was so funny as he checked it out.  I think he thought it was pretty gross but he was a trooper!

Westin instantly latched on and began to nurse and precious from the get go! 

Since we have been home we have had Doug and Stacey here to help with the kids, the house, getting organized with the boys all being in one room now, and just relieving a lot of the adjusting that comes with a new baby and 4 other kids all at home!  It has really been an amazing blessing to have them. Justin has also been off work since the day Westin was born.  How awesome huh!  He's been busy finishing bunk beds, cleaning the garage, rearranging the boys room, and so much more.  We saved a lot for last minute but it's been fine.

Now on to Thanksgiving tomorrow, here at our house with Josh and Kara and my parents too.  It should be a great day of just eating and relaxing.  

Little Westin is sleeping fine...to be expected waking and eating at night but nothing terribly exhausting.  He's a snuggler already and wants to sleep with mommy! I just love him.  Plus he smells so GOOD!
