A Trip to the Abortion Mill-The First

Several weeks ago a local church Justin and I have been acquaintances with for some time now, Apologia Church, made an announcement about how they were going to be putting together a team of believers to minister at the local abortion mills here in Phoenix. I was ecstatic.

As the same time, I too had been increasingly bombarded, by God's doing, regarding Abortion.  He kept placing in front of me information, testimonials, statistics, and stirred in me a passion for both the babies being aborted and the women misguided into thinking it was a valid option.

The more I read about it, the more I couldn't ignore it.  It drove me to my knees to ask God what role I could play in giving a voice to the voiceless. At this same time, Jeff and Candi at Apologia Church were setting out to make change and I instantly knew I had to be involved. 

Since I have 5, soon to be 6 small children I know going out each weekend to the abortion mills might not be in the cards for me.  But, I have other gifts God has given to me that can be used to make change for these young ladies. 

I am a doula, a labor, birth, and baby activist.  I have information, resources, counsel that could be very comforting and useful to these young ladies when they choose life.  (I say when b/c we are confident God will bring to us women looking for truth). I can be their sister, their mother, their partner in the process of giving life to the unborn.  

I began to realize I could put together a team of like minded, pro life, Christian doulas who also want to help these young ladies.  We can offer sisterhood, support, childbirth classes, breastfeeding support, adoption counsel, and so much more.  So, I began looking for women who were interested in also participating with me.

At this point I have about 5 or 6 doulas from all over the Valley willing to help these young ladies.  It's wonderful.  Together we can cover any issue, question or need that may come up with the young ladies when they choose to carry their child to birth.  

I'm thrilled.  Along with that, God has answered prayer immensely by connecting me to others who do abortion outreach, local ministries who offer assistance to young women who need support, and adoption clinics looking to help with adoption placement.

At the Mill

So, as the pieces have been coming together, today was the first day I joined the team at the Abortion Clinic.  They too have had an outpouring of support and donations to assist the mothers who need help.  

It was a peaceful experience.  The team has been quarantined to the sidewalk and cannot enter the property for any reason.  So, they are forced to call out to the women and partners entering the facility asking them to come and talk with them.  There are many that drive by and there is an opportunity to hand them information as they do so.  

There is darkness in this place and the spirit of guilt, shame, and anger is heavy.  But, we also see God's light being portrayed as we attempt to reach the girls in love, without judgement, but compassion.

Thank goodness in AZ they have to wait 24 hours and they have to be given an Ultrasound and they have to see it before they can go through with the abortion.  But, as we know some still choose death.  55 million since Roe V. Wade...22% of a generation.  What are we doing?

The Lie

There are so many layers to the onion of Abortion.  40 years since Roe V. Wade of cultural indoctrination telling women their bodies are more important than the life growing inside of them.  Telling them their "life" and "desires" are more significant than the child they created.  Relieving them of their responsibility in the matter and the power of their choices before pregnancy occurs.  The lie that has perpetrated the belief that a life is not a life until we define it as so, which allows us to be God.  The Lie that tells our culture children are a nuisance, an ornament to their life, an accessory they only have to have if it "fits" what they want.  The lie that keeps adoption off the radar and convinces a women she has no choice but to choose death.  The lie that tells us that only perfect babies have purpose and value and those with abnormalities or challenges don't deserve to live.  The lie that we now believe we are the God's of our lives and the One True God has no power over our lives. And we've heard the lies covered over with rhetoric that makes it all sound so...positive.  Reproductive rights...Choice...Liberty...Progress...Really?

The rest of layers include, rhetoric, poor education, lacking responsibility, excuses, manipulation, lacking support, eugenics, welfare and government funded murder, to name a few.

I could go on and on. The woman involved in the Roe V. Wade case lied, the entire thing is based upon a lie.  She now dedicates her time to undoing what she did.  Abortions contribute to death, permanent damage to a woman's uterus, increased risk of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer, emotional injury, spiritual injury, regret, guilt, and of course the death and dismemberment of babies, living babies.  

The HOPE

The hope is in Jesus.  He forgives, he renews, he regenerates, he heals, he is truth.  His word is clear as to the value of children, regardless of challenge or disability.  The hope is knowing these small souls are in heaven with Him.  As the body of Christ's church we are called to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.  To protect life. To speak truth.

Proverbs 31:8 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

I'm overjoyed to be a part of this great team reaching out to these young girls.  I'm even more thrilled at the thought of being a doula for even one of these girls.  I am praying that more churches and members of the church body will feel compelled to give a voice to the voiceless in the way they can, using the gifts and abilities God has given to them. We are all able to play a role, whether through attending the clinics, praying, donating both monetarily and with items in need, and speaking out. 

The next step toward making a difference is to consider adoption.  If, as believers, we speak against abortion, we then must be willing to participate in adoption.  Again, there are many ways to support and participate in adoption.  As the body we must both be willing to speak out again abortion and provide homes to those very children in need.  

God has called us to care for the Orphans, specifically.  Are we yielding the call? Are churches helping their sheep take in the fatherless?  Are believers helping each other,supporting each other in adoption? What could we do differently? Are we in this predicament b/c the state offers more support than the church? Where should the support truly come from?
